Wiseman in the community - going further in the community

Wiseman in the Community - we recognise the importance of being a part of the communities we serve

With the growth of the company, our community focus is becoming more and more national. That's' why we devised the Wiseman in the Community programme.

There are five Wiseman in the Community groups, each centred on a dairy and comprising staff who are happy to volunteer their time.

Each of these groups are autonomous and responsible for getting Wiseman involved appropriately in the local community, through events and fundraising initiatives.

Wherever possible, Wiseman in the Community will benefit families and children, promote good health, involve our customers and create a tangible visible result.

Help the Hospices

Wiseman's charity partner is Help the Hospices, the leading national charity that represents and promotes hospice and palliative care across the UK.

A remarkable one-in-three people in Britain has had a family member or friend benefit from hospice care and most hospices rely heavily on fundraising, donations and sponsorship to continue to provide the valuable care to their local population.

Wherever we have a dairy or depot, there is a hospice close by which needs our support. Wiseman staff work with Help the Hospices and their local hospices to develop fundraising initiatives at a local and national level.

Cross Community Initiatives

Over and above this, the Company has backed participative sport and leisure events by sponsoring the freshnlo Pedal for Scotland, an annual bike ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh for cyclists of any ability.

A partnership between Wiseman and the Scottish Football Association has helped to provide an opportunity for thousands of young people across Scotland to play football, more often as part of the SFA's Street Football Programme.

Throughout the year Wiseman has a calendar of Special Edition Packaging supporting charities and community initiatives. These packs are worth tens of thousands of pounds to the charities and help raise their profile of the charity as they are seen in millions of homes across the UK.

The annual Robert Wiseman Dairies Neighbourhood Shop of the Year competition recognises the quality and excellence of hundreds of convenience stores throughout the UK. The programme also provides an opportunity for Wiseman to acknowledge the continued hard work of their customers and provides a voice for consumers to reward their store for serving their local communities well.
